Pet Health Insurance For Cats & Dogs Daily Tip:
Why is this done?

Just a bit less than 10 years ago or so, a police officer lost his life in the line of duty in Calgary. While laying a spike belt across Deerfoot Trail he was callously run down by the driver they were trying to stop. This officer's family has raised an incredible amount of funds in his name, providing the city with a HAWKS surveillance helicoptor and the funds to maintain it.

I have every respect for the police, RCMP and other enforcement agencies. I remember the day this officer died vividly. And also the to me, senseless sentence the driver received as a result, not to mention his snotnosed attitude when he contacted a journalist from jail. But that's another post. That said, let me say this.

At the spot where this officer died is a memorial. A cross on the side of an overpass embankment that is easily seen from a distance. It's well maintained (even now and by whom I do not know) In fact the ther other day when I drove by it, someone had cleared away the snow around it, in the shape of a heart. Such dedication to someone's memorial is commendable.

I could, however, wish that this memorial and countless others like it, including the one to a 17 yo youth who recently lost his life in a single vehicle accident just outside of High River were not there.

Not because I wish to not be reminded that a death has occurred. Or to take away anyone's comfort in marking the point of someone's death. And not because I'm a big blue meanie. But because these are distractions that drivers do not need. Everytime I drive by the memorial on Deerfoot Trail, my eyes go to it. Taking them for what could well be precious seonds from the road. Sure, I could be callous and not look. I could not give a shit that an officer was killed there in the line of duty. But I do care. So I look and for a moment I remember. And while I get that's the purpose of a memorial I question the placement at the side of a rather busy thoroughfare.

I realize this isn't a sweetness and light post for the Christmas season. But it's something that's been preying on my mind for quite some time, and this is when it came burbling out.

Ladies and Gentlemen, your rant for the evening...

Fashion police beware!

No coming near me. I like my mom jeans, tee shirts and sweat pants.

I'll wear what ever colour I like to wear with whatever colour I feel like.

I sure as hell won't let 3 clowns with less common sense than any 2 teenagers I know, tell me what or what not to wear.

And tell me this, what the hell sort of business is Miz Oprah running if she can't flipping figure out what clothing to wear. Oh, yeah, makes me want to step right up and buy stock in her business...

And on the flipside, our lady of ladies, Martha.. hello, dresses all coordinated but is too dumb to know something illegal is um.. illegal? Yeah, dress me all cute and coordinated why don't cha?

So, if you seriously think you can actually walk up to me, and tell me what I'm wearing is wrong, out of date, or even just tacky, I sure hope you think that I can slap you f***ing silly for doing so.

Seriously, what sort of emancipation did women achieve if we are going to let a group of 10 or less fashion editors dictate what we will or will not be wearing this spring? So the men can't boss us around but we're so pathetic that we search for others to do so? We burnt bras and grew our underarm hair for this? YEESH...

snickers.
